Service Header Trigger Point Release

Myofascial release/ trigger point release

Myofascial trigger points are tight bands of muscle fibres that are tender to touch and cause pain, both locally and referred pain which spreads to other parts of the body.  The tight bands occur when the muscle is weak or over-worked.  Trigger points are like knots in the muscle and are easy for physiotherapists to feel when palpating the muscle.  Releasing the trigger points involves sustained, hands on pressure at the point of pain, the pressure is maintained until the pain starts to reduce and the muscle knot is broken down
